Does YouTube TV Have Golf: Complete Coverage Guide
Yes, YouTube TV has golf through broadcast networks, with Golf Channel available in its Sports Plus add-on.
If you are asking, “does YouTube TV have golf,” the answer depends on the tournament, channel, and plan you choose. YouTube TV can cover many major golf events through CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, and USA Network. However, dedicated Golf Channel coverage usually requires Sports Plus. This guide explains what you can watch, what it costs, and how to avoid missing your favorite rounds.
Does YouTube TV have golf?
Yes, YouTube TV has golf, but it does not place every golf event in one single channel or package. Golf coverage is spread across several networks, and the right channel depends on the tournament.
The standard YouTube TV plan includes many major broadcast networks. These often carry parts of events such as:
• PGA Tour events shown on CBS or NBC
• Major championship coverage on CBS, NBC, or USA Network
• Golf news and selected live events on related sports channels
• College golf and other sports programming on available networks
The Golf Channel is different. It is generally part of YouTube TV’s Sports Plus add-on rather than the standard base plan. Channel lineups and prices can change, so it is wise to check your local YouTube TV account before subscribing.
Which golf channels are on YouTube TV?
YouTube TV may provide access to several networks that show golf. The exact lineup can vary by location, plan, and broadcast rights.
CBS
CBS carries major golf broadcasts, including parts of the Masters and other important PGA Tour events. It is included in the standard YouTube TV plan in most supported markets.
CBS is useful for viewers who mainly want weekend coverage. You may not need an extra sports package if the event is being shown on your local CBS station.
NBC and USA Network
NBC and USA Network show many golf events, especially PGA Tour coverage and selected major championship rounds. Both networks can be important during early rounds, featured groups, and weekend play.
NBC availability depends on your local station. USA Network availability depends on the YouTube TV channel lineup in your area.
Golf Channel
Golf Channel is the most direct answer for people who want regular golf programming. It shows live tournaments, early-round coverage, golf news, instruction, interviews, and analysis.
On YouTube TV, Golf Channel is commonly included through Sports Plus. This add-on may also include other sports networks, such as NFL RedZone and other specialty channels. The exact lineup and monthly price can change.
ESPN
ESPN has carried some golf events and related programming. It may also show selected tournaments, college golf, and special competitions.
ESPN is usually part of the base YouTube TV plan. Still, having ESPN does not mean you automatically get every golf event. Streaming rights are divided among networks.
FOX
FOX and FS1 may carry selected golf tournaments and related events. FOX is commonly included in the base YouTube TV plan, while FS1 availability depends on the current lineup.
This is another reason to check the event schedule instead of relying only on the sport name. A golf event may be on a channel you already have, or it may require a separate service.
Does YouTube TV include Golf Channel?
YouTube TV can include Golf Channel, but Golf Channel is usually not part of the basic plan. It is generally offered through the Sports Plus add-on.
Sports Plus is designed for viewers who want more specialty sports coverage. The package may include Golf Channel along with other sports networks. The price can change, and promotional rates may be different from the regular monthly cost.
Before adding Sports Plus, follow these steps:
- Open the YouTube TV website or app.
- Go to your membership settings.
- Open the add-ons section.
- Review the current Sports Plus channel list.
- Confirm that Golf Channel is included in your market.
- Check the full monthly price before confirming.
This is the safest way to answer “does YouTube TV have golf” for your own account. YouTube TV may update its channel packages and sports rights over time.
What golf tournaments can you watch on YouTube TV?
YouTube TV can show many golf tournaments, but coverage depends on the network carrying each event.
The Masters
The Masters is often shown through CBS for major broadcast coverage. Additional coverage may be available through digital platforms connected to the tournament, but those options are not always included with YouTube TV.
YouTube TV viewers can usually watch the nationally televised CBS portion if their local CBS station is available. Extra streams, featured groups, and early coverage may require another platform.
PGA Tour events
PGA Tour events are commonly spread across Golf Channel, NBC, CBS, and other services. Early rounds may appear on Golf Channel, while weekend rounds may move to NBC or CBS.
This makes Sports Plus useful for serious golf fans. Without it, you may still see the main weekend broadcast, but you could miss Thursday and Friday coverage.
U.S. Open and other major championships
Major championships may use several networks. NBC, CBS, FOX, USA Network, and other platforms can all play a role, depending on the event and year.
Broadcast agreements can change. Always check the current tournament schedule before assuming a certain channel will carry the full event.
College golf and special events
YouTube TV may also carry college golf, team competitions, skills events, and international tournaments when they appear on supported networks.
Coverage is less consistent than PGA Tour coverage. A quick search in the YouTube TV guide can show whether a specific event is available.
Does YouTube TV have golf in the base plan?
Yes, the base plan can provide some golf coverage. It usually includes major broadcast networks such as CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, and other sports channels, depending on your location.
However, the base plan may not include Golf Channel. That means you could watch a Sunday broadcast but miss live coverage from Thursday and Friday.
The base plan is a good fit if you:
• Mainly watch weekend rounds
• Follow tournaments carried on CBS or NBC
• Want general sports and entertainment channels
• Do not need every golf broadcast
• Prefer one larger TV package instead of many separate services
The base plan may not be enough if you:
• Watch most PGA Tour rounds
• Need Golf Channel every week
• Follow early morning tee times
• Want golf news and instruction shows
• Watch multiple tournaments at the same time
The best choice depends on how often you watch golf. Casual viewers may find the base plan sufficient. Dedicated fans may get better coverage from Sports Plus or a combination of services.
How much does YouTube TV cost for golf?
Your golf cost depends on whether you use the base plan, add Sports Plus, or need another streaming service for extra coverage.
YouTube TV changes its prices from time to time. Because of this, check the current membership page before subscribing. Do not rely on an old price shown in a review or social media post.
Your possible costs include:
• The regular YouTube TV base subscription
• The monthly Sports Plus add-on
• A separate service for tournament-specific streams
• Taxes or other account charges
• Temporary promotional pricing that later expires
Sports Plus can be worthwhile if you watch Golf Channel often. If you only watch a few major Sunday rounds, adding the package for one month may not be necessary.
A useful approach is to compare the tournament schedule with the channels in your current plan. This helps you avoid paying for a sports add-on that you barely use.
How to watch golf on YouTube TV
Watching golf on YouTube TV is simple once you know which network carries the event.
Search for the tournament
Use the YouTube TV search tool and enter the tournament name. Search terms such as “Masters,” “PGA Tour,” or “Golf Channel” can help you find live broadcasts and scheduled recordings.
Check the channel guide
Look at CBS, NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel, ESPN, and FOX. The guide can show live programs, upcoming rounds, and replay options.
Add the event to your library
YouTube TV includes cloud DVR storage. Add the tournament or series to your library before it begins. This can help when coverage starts early or runs longer than expected.
The service may record the program across different channels, depending on how the event is scheduled. This is helpful when a tournament moves from Golf Channel to NBC during the weekend.
Confirm your local network
Local CBS, NBC, and FOX access depends on your area. Enter your ZIP code on YouTube TV before subscribing to confirm which local stations are available.
Use a stable internet connection
Golf streams can run for several hours. A stable broadband connection helps prevent pauses, blurry video, and sudden quality drops.
YouTube TV golf coverage compared with other options
YouTube TV is strong for viewers who want live TV, sports, news, and entertainment in one service. It is not always the only option for golf.
YouTube TV
Benefits include:
• Live access to many major networks
• A useful cloud DVR feature
• Simple searching and recording
• Access across supported TVs and mobile devices
• Sports Plus for specialty channels
Limitations include:
• Golf Channel may cost extra
• Some digital streams are not included
• Local channel availability varies
• Tournament rights can change
Cable or satellite TV
Traditional TV may offer Golf Channel in a sports tier. It can provide broad channel access, but contracts, equipment fees, and installation may raise the total cost.
Peacock and other streaming services
Some NBC-related golf coverage may appear on Peacock or another digital platform. YouTube TV does not automatically include every streaming service.
Tournament websites and apps
Some golf organizations offer free or paid digital coverage. These services may show featured groups or selected holes that are not part of the main television broadcast.
The key lesson is simple: no single service guarantees every golf stream. Check the tournament’s official viewing schedule before making a purchase.
Practical tips for watching golf on YouTube TV
I have found that the biggest frustration is not the picture quality. It is missing the first tee time because the viewer assumed all rounds would be on the same channel.
Use these practical habits:
- Check the schedule two or three days before the event.
- Confirm whether Thursday and Friday coverage is on Golf Channel.
- Search for the event in YouTube TV instead of browsing only one channel.
- Add the full tournament to your library.
- Check local CBS, NBC, and FOX availability.
- Review Sports Plus before the tournament begins.
- Remember that free trials and discounts may have conditions.
- Check blackout or regional restrictions when applicable.
Another common mistake is assuming that recording one network records every part of a tournament. If coverage switches from Golf Channel to NBC, adding the tournament series is usually safer than recording one program manually.
Is YouTube TV good for golf fans?
YouTube TV is a good choice for many golf fans, especially people who want a flexible live TV service without a long contract.
It works best for viewers who want:
• Major network golf coverage
• Live sports beyond golf
• Cloud DVR recording
• Easy access on multiple devices
• The option to add specialty sports channels
It may not be ideal for viewers who want every tournament stream in one place. Golf rights are spread across networks and services, so even a strong live TV package has limits.
The best plan depends on your viewing habits. A casual fan may only need the base plan. A dedicated fan who follows every round should consider Sports Plus and compare it with the event’s official streaming options.
